Local Citizens Sue to Block Utah's Proposed Cherry Peak Ski Resort

According to a report published by Ski Area Management magazine, the proposed Cherry Peak ski resort in Richmond, UT is facing a legal challenge from  a group of concerned citizens.

The proposed resort would be located just north of Logan, UT in the Salt Lake City metropolitan area. According to plans, the resort would offer a vertical drop of about 1,200'. See picture above for more detail on the proposed layout.

Cherry Peak received a conditional use permit from the Cache County Planning Commission in February. Developers had hoped to begin construction on the project as soon this fall with ski operations commencing in 2013-2014. However, according to published reports, Utah's 1st District Court is unlikely to hear the case until April of 2013, meaning the resort's initial timetable is likely unacheivable.

A link to the county's evaluation of the project can be found here.
