Lech-Zürs and Warth-Schröcken to Link

Exciting news from the Austria's Arlberg region and this time it looks like lawyers have done something good for a change. Ski, Esq. is proud to be the first English language source to report that Lech-Zürs and neighboring Warth-Schröcken are to linked by a new gondola. After lawyers resolved issues over land ownership, the decades-long dream of combining the two adjoining resorts is about to be realized, says the Lech-Zürs tourism office. Construction on the new "Auenfeldjet" lift is to begin in the spring of 2013 at a cost of 12 million Euros.

Lech-Zürs is part of the same Arlberg ski pass as Austria's legendary St. Anton am Arlberg. The newly combined resort will be the largest in the Austrian state of Vorarlberg.  Skiers can access 340km of pistes and 94 lifts. The link will be located near the bottom station of the Weibermahdbahn.

As frequent readers of Ski, Esq. may be recall, I visited St. Anton and Lech-Zürs in March 2011.  It is truly a remarkable ski destination. The new link to Warth-Schröcken will only improve one Europe's finest resorts. For additional information and pictures, visit this article at Seilbahn.net (german language site).
